ICONS 2002-2006 Public memorial maintained for the duration of five days, as a cartography of the development of the Dutch Populist Movement. Surrounding pictures of Pim Fortuyn, which formed the center of the installation, images of other politicians and opinion makers were on display, next to several prints and drawings that had marked the public debate during the period after the death of Fortuyn. The work mapped Fortuyn’s heavy impact on the sociopolitical consciousness in the Netherlands after his death, both on the political parties and public figures that were his allies, and the ones that were his opponents. Photography by Maarten Steenhagen This project was made possible with support of PlanetArt, Enschede (NL); Center for Visual Arts, Rotterdam (NL); The Netherlands Foundation for Visual Arts, Design and Architecture, Amsterdam (NL)
