How to Make History Mine I-II
(Tilburg: How to Make History Mine at De Verschijning, 2007; Amsterdam: The Daily Special at Shuffle Gallery, 2007)

Two blood stains from photos in the media, reconstructed with the artist’s blood. The project treated visual art as an extension of the press: as a potential framework in which not only the subject of transmission is discussed, but also the process of transmission itself: the framework in which we are offered our information. This was amplified within the artworks by reconstructing the blood stains only to the extent that the images inform us about them: the “end” – the edge – of the picture was literally replicated in the work.

This project was made possible with support of De Verschijning, Tilburg (NL); The Netherlands Foundation for Visual Arts, Design and Architecture, Amsterdam (NL)
